Yamazaki 18 Year Old | 43% | 70cl | World's Best Japanese Single Malt 2015 | Japanese Single Malt Whisky

The pinnacle of Japan's oldest whisky distillery. Yamazaki 18 Year Old is one of the most decorated and sought-after Japanese single malts in the world — winner of Best Japanese Single Malt at the 2015 World Whiskies Awards and a multiple gold medallist across the sport's most prestigious competitions. Produced at Suntory's Yamazaki Distillery, founded in 1923 in a valley south of Kyoto where three rivers meet, approximately 80% of the liquid is matured in sherry butts, with the remainder spending its years in American and Mizunara oak casks. The result is a whisky of extraordinary complexity, depth, and harmony — a stunning marriage of fruit, oak, and richness that defines what great Japanese single malt can be.

  • Finish: Long, fruity, and marmalade-led — lingering and exceptionally refined

About Yamazaki Distillery

Founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii in a mist-shrouded valley at the confluence of the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu rivers near Kyoto, Yamazaki is the oldest whisky distillery in Japan and the spiritual home of Japanese single malt. The location was chosen deliberately: the soft water, high humidity, and dramatic seasonal temperature changes all contribute to the unique character of the spirit matured there. Yamazaki's use of rare Mizunara oak — a Japanese species that imparts distinctive incense, sandalwood, and exotic spice — is one of the most distinctive elements in world whisky. The 18 Year Old represents the distillery at its most fully realised.
