Our story

In 1995, Martin Long opened our shop with one goal: make great whisky accessible to everyone who shares the passion. He built the business the old-fashioned way—by earning trust, sharing knowledge, and looking after people. After Martin's stroke, Aimee and Josh stepped in to carry the torch. Together, we've modernised the business while keeping what matters most: integrity, community, and a genuine love for whisky.

How we source

- Direct from distilleries we know and respect
- Through reputable suppliers and independent bottlers
- From private collectors and auctions, where our experience helps us authenticate and price fairly

Provenance & Bottle Standards

Decades of hands-on sourcing—across auctions, private collections, and direct distillery relationships—have given us a clear picture of what a trustworthy bottle looks like. Every rare, vintage, or limited-edition bottle we list goes through the same considered assessment before it reaches you.

  • Provenance: We trace each bottle's history as far as the record allows—distillery of origin, independent bottler where applicable, and the route it has taken to reach us. For auction and private-collection purchases, we document what we know and reflect that honestly in the listing.
  • Storage conditions: We look for evidence of appropriate long-term storage—stable temperature, away from direct light—and factor condition into both our decision to stock a bottle and how we describe it.
  • Fill level: Fill level is noted for all vintage and aged bottles. Any variation from a full fill is described in the product listing so you can make an informed decision before buying.
  • Bottle inspection: Each bottle is physically examined for label integrity, capsule condition, seepage, and any damage to the glass or closure. Bottles that do not meet our standards are not listed for sale.
  • Packaging & condition grading: Original boxes and cases are noted where present. We describe overall condition accurately—including any age-related wear—so what you see in the listing reflects what you receive.
  • Authentication: Our team draws on decades of category knowledge to assess authenticity for older and rarer expressions. Where a bottle's provenance raises any question we cannot resolve, we do not list it.

We describe every bottle as accurately as we can. If you have a specific question about a listing—fill level, storage history, or condition detail—our team is happy to answer before you buy.
