Yamazaki Distillery holds the distinction of being Japan’s oldest malt whisky distillery. Established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory, it marked the beginning of commercial whisky production in Japan. The Yamazaki 12YO is known for its complexity and harmony of flavors, which have been carefully crafted to represent the essence of Japanese whisky. The distillation process at the Yamazaki Distillery is known for its diversity, using a variety of still shapes and sizes to produce a wide range of flavor profiles. This diversity allows the master blenders to create a whisky with depth and complexity by carefully selecting and blending the spirits from different stills and cask types. The whisky is matured for a minimum of 12 years in a combination of American, Spanish (Ex-Sherry), and Japanese oak casks, each contributing distinct characteristics to the final blend.
