A Macallan that turns the distillery's traditional maturation on its head. Carta Nautica, launched in late September 2026, tells the story of the transatlantic voyage of The Macallan's oak: American oak shipped to Jerez de la Frontera in Spain to be seasoned with sherry, then on to Scotland. This 20 Year Old was matured in what the label calls "an anomalous selection" of sherry-seasoned oak casks and casks that previously held bourbon. Years in sherry wood followed by a bourbon cask finish is rare for any distillery, and almost unheard of for The Macallan.
The result is brighter and fruitier than the house style, with apricot, mango and orange leading the way. Bottled at 42% ABV at natural colour, and released exclusively to global travel retail, with a presentation box in deep navy. It launched at Singapore's Changi Airport in October 2026 before a worldwide roll-out, so bottles in the UK are scarce.
