Twenty-two years is a long time to wait — but for a Speyside distillery founded in 1892, patience is simply part of the craft. This teaspooned blended malt is drawn predominantly from one of Speyside's most celebrated distilleries, distilled in 2003 and finished for 14 months in a medium charred American oak sherry cask sourced from Bodegas Barbadillo, a sherry bodega the Rare Find team work closely with.

Bottled at a gentle 46.1%, this is a whisky that doesn't need to shout. Over two decades of maturation have done the work, and the sherry wood has added just the right layer of sweetness and spice to complement what was already there. One of only 133 bottles — among the most limited releases in this entire Rare Find series.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Crisp apple and gently poached pears unfold into layers of tinned fruit cocktail and peaches in syrup. Soft, juicy sweetness balanced by a subtle freshness — inviting and beautifully layered.

Palate: The fruitiness continues with perfectly ripe fruit alongside rich golden syrup and juicy fresh apricots. Twenty-two years of maturation gives it a depth and seamlessness that younger whiskies simply can't replicate.

Finish: Long and sustained. Rich tinned fruit gradually gives way to dusty oak, with delicate hints of white pepper adding warmth and complexity right to the end.

What Is a Teaspooned Malt?

Many distilleries have contractual restrictions preventing their name from appearing on releases outside of official bottlings. The solution is elegantly simple: add a teaspoon's worth of another malt whisky to the cask, and it legally becomes a blended malt. The spirit inside is overwhelmingly single distillery in character — only the classification changes. Teaspooned malts have developed a dedicated collector following, and for good reason: they offer genuine access to famed distillery character at independent bottler pricing, with a layer of intrigue that makes the dram all the more enjoyable.
