Nc'Nean Ainnir Inaugural Release | Organic Single Malt | 60.3% | 70cl | 1,320 Bottles
The first whisky ever released by one of Scotland's most extraordinary new distilleries — and one of the most collectable debut releases of the modern era. Nc'Nean Ainnir is the inaugural single malt from the Nc'Nean Distillery on the remote Drimnin Estate, Morvern Peninsula, built entirely from scratch by Annabel Thomas after she left her career in London to pursue a vision of organic, sustainably produced Scotch whisky. The spirit first ran in March 2017; this whisky was vatted from five carefully selected casks and bottled in August 2020 at a natural 60.3% cask strength. Only 1,320 individually numbered bottles were filled — every one in a fully recycled glass bottle. Bottle #1 sold at auction for £42,000.

Tasting Notes
- Nose: Fresh citrus, ripe peach, and apricot with warming spice — the STR wine barriques adding a generous, fragrant fruit character over the clean organic spirit
- Palate: Vibrant and fruit-forward at cask strength — orchard fruits, peach, vanilla, and gentle warming spice from the blend of bourbon and STR casks. Silky and expressive
- Finish: Warm, clean, and lingering — fruity sweetness with a gentle spiced fade that speaks of a young but exceptional spirit
Note: Tasting notes expanded from available descriptors. Swap in official Nc'Nean notes if available.
About Nc'Nean Distillery
The idea for Nc'Nean was conceived in 2012. Annabel Thomas secured nearly £7.5m across two fundraising rounds, and the distillery was built from scratch in 2014 — designed by the legendary late Dr. Jim Swan. The first spirit ran in March 2017, making this one of Scotland's newest distilleries. The name — pronounced [nc-nee-an] — abbreviates Neachneohain, the Queen of the Spirits in Gaelic folk legend. Nc'Nean is certified organic, B Corp certified, and committed to complete sustainability from field to bottle. Ainnir means "young woman" in Gaelic — a fitting name for a whisky that marks the birth of something exceptional.
