Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Winter Storm Batch 1 | Icewine Cask Finish | 43% | 70cl | Experimental Series
The third release in Glenfiddich's groundbreaking Experimental Series — and the one that introduced Scotch whisky to one of Canada's rarest and most intense wine styles. Winter Storm was born from a trip to Peller Estates winery in Niagara, Ontario, where Malt Master Brian Kinsman encountered icewine: a dessert wine made from grapes frozen on the vine, producing a liquid of extraordinary concentrated sweetness. Kinsman was convinced that only the oldest Glenfiddich spirit could hold its own against that intensity — so the base is 21 years old. After full maturation, the whisky was given a finishing period of up to six months in the French oak icewine casks. The result is Batch 1 of one of the most unusual and memorable expressions in the Experimental Series. Limited to 8,000 bottles.

About the Icewine Cask Finish
Icewine is one of the rarest and most labour-intensive wines in the world — produced only in regions cold enough to freeze grapes on the vine, requiring perfect conditions and immediate harvest before temperatures rise. The resulting liquid has extraordinary sugar concentration and flavour intensity. Brian Kinsman's insight — that 21-year-old Glenfiddich was the only spirit robust enough to absorb and harmonise with that intensity — produced something genuinely new in single malt whisky. The IWSC described it as "a really spicy and intense experience — powerful, yet sweet and luscious." Batch 1 remains the purest expression of that idea.
