About the distillery
Buffalo Trace Distillery, located in Frankfort, Kentucky, has a long history and has gone by various names, such as the George T. Stagg Distillery and O.F.C. Distillery. Its signature bourbon, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey, was first released in August 1999. According to the company, this distillery is the oldest continuously-operating one in the United States. Situated on the site of a former buffalo crossing on the Kentucky River in Franklin County, the distillery is aptly named after the American bison. In 1992, the Sazerac Company, a family-owned producer and importer based in New Orleans, Louisiana, acquired the distillery and is now its parent company.
