Kilkerran 17 Year Old - Open Day 2023

The 2023 Glengyle open day bottle is a triple distilled 17 year old that was matured in bourbon casks.

Nose

Creamy vanilla custard, it’s almost grain-like in its initial aroma, then it moves into tinned pineapple, apple tart tatain, warehouse must, sponge fingers and creme brulee. Super sweet, super creamy. We’re also finding rice krispies and lime cordial. The nose might be slightly one dimensional, but they’ve picked the right dimension to have.

Palate

The palate begins right where the nose left off, creamy vanilla custard, grain-like sweetness, creme caramel, candyfloss, brown sugar, again super sweet and super creamy. It’s warming, there’s a subtle alcohol spice that keeps you interested. The mouthfeel is.. creamy.. we need to find a new word for this lovely texture. The finish lingers for a good while, leaving you with freshly scraped vanilla pods and white chocolate buttons as you inhale. Time and air reveals a touch of sea salt, wet pebbles and dry oak as the palate develops.
