Torabhaig 2017 The Legacy Series Inaugural Release | 46% | 70cl

The inaugural whisky from Torabhaig — only the second licensed single malt distillery ever on the Isle of Skye, the first in 190 years. Spirit first distilled January 2017. Matured in ex-bourbon barrels, non-chill filtered, natural colour at 46% ABV. The Legacy Series will chart the distillery's early evolution until a 10-year-old is ready around 2028. Approximately 3,000 bottles in a limited lottery release.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Whispers of coastal peat through vanilla and warm baked apple; wet oak, limestone, mineral salts, seaweed and dried grass
  • Palate: Decent oiliness; ashy arrival with good wood smoke and salinity. Fresh bourbon influence with vanilla, green fruit and peat embers
  • Finish: Gentle wafts of smoke, lingering coastal brine, vanilla and citrus — medium-long
