Cask #377887 sat quietly in the eastern Highlands for thirteen years, filling slowly with everything a good Oloroso sherry cask has to give. We had it bottled this month — at full cask strength, unchillfiltered, with not a drop of colouring added — and we chose to release it today, the 25th of September, because today is Martin Long's 67th birthday.
Martin founded Whiskys.co.uk in 1995. For twenty years, he built it into what it is — Yorkshire's oldest whisky merchant, the UK's biggest supplier of Blackadder, and a shop with a reputation for rare, honest, carefully chosen whisky. Then he suffered a stroke, and the business passed to his daughter Aimee and her business partner Josh. They've carried it on together, in the same spirit Martin always intended.
This bottle is a tribute to him. 10% of every sale goes directly to the Stroke Association — because behind every great whisky, there's usually a great person, and this one is no different.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich and inviting from the off — maple syrup, roast pecans and milk chocolate come first, followed by spiced apples and candied orange. There's nothing sharp here; this is a cask that's done its job beautifully.
Palate: A wash of stewed fruits, cacao, prunes and candied cloves, held together with manuka honey, poached pears and tobacco spices. It fills the mouth at 54.7%, but it's generous rather than aggressive. Try it with a few drops of water if you'd like to open it further.
Finish: Long and warming, with praline, coffee cake and cocoa powder leading out, before it fades slowly into crème caramel and roasted nuts. It lingers. It means to.
About Glencadam
Established in 1825 in Brechin, Angus, Glencadam is one of the few remaining distilleries in Scotland's eastern Highlands — a region that doesn't shout about itself, but produces whisky of genuine character. They call themselves "The Rather Unique," and it's not an empty claim. Elegant, well-structured, unhurried — their spirit has a quality that rewards patience, and thirteen years in a good sherry cask has brought out exactly the depth you'd hope for.
