Ardbeg 22 Year Old Cadenhead Single Cask

This very rare Ardbeg 22 year old Cask Strength Whisky comes from the the Islay distillery of Ardbeg.

Distilled during the 15 year quiet period between 1981 and 1996 when production at Ardbeg was minimal and infrequent making this a rare treat!

Distilled in 1993 and bottled in July 2016 at cask strength of 55.3% ABV. by William Cadenhead, Scotlands oldest independent bottler.

Matured in a single Bourbon Hogshead

Tasting Notes:

Nose : Smoke is definitely present but not overpowering. An underlying richness of smoked duck, cherries and light iodine.

Palate : The smokiness becomes more apparent. Very peaty but with a slight hint of cooked fruit and raisins, then finally some wood and a little spice.

Finish : Big smoke, developing into an almost creamy mouthfeel before finally a dry but still rich finish.
