Rosebank 15 Year Old 1989 | Cadenhead's Authentic Collection | 55.8% | 70cl | 294 Bottles | Lowland Single Malt

One of Lowland whisky's most prized ghosts. Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk closed in 1993 after producing one of Scotland's most distinctive and celebrated styles of single malt — a triple-distilled Lowland whisky of extraordinary delicacy, floral grace, and fruity precision. Distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2004 by Cadenhead's — Scotland's oldest independent bottler — this expression spent 15 years in an ex-bourbon cask and was filled into just 294 bottles. Presented in a cardboard tube and bottled at a full 55.8% ABV, this is Rosebank from one of its finest decades: a piece of Lowland whisky history that cannot be recreated.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Rosebank's unmistakable triple-distilled purity shines through — lemon zest, green apple, fresh pear, and elderflower on a bed of light vanilla and sweet barley. A delicate waxiness and fresh grassy note lift the whole profile. Elegant and perfumed
  • Palate: Bright and fruit-forward at cask strength — crisp green apple, pear, and honeyed vanilla from the bourbon oak. Citrus oils and a touch of soft almond run alongside a clean, grassy sweetness. A gentle warming spice emerges mid-palate with white pepper and floral lift
  • Finish: Long, clean, and refined — citrus zest, vanilla cream, and soft waxy fruit fade slowly with a lingering floral whisper that is uniquely and unmistakably Rosebank

Note: Tasting notes written from expert knowledge of bourbon cask Rosebank. Swap in official Cadenhead's notes if available.

About Rosebank Distillery

Rosebank was established in 1840 on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal in Falkirk, and its whisky was long considered among the finest examples of the Lowland style — distinguished by triple distillation, which produces a lighter, more refined, more aromatic spirit than the typical double-distilled Scotch. Closed by Diageo in 1993 and subsequently left to deteriorate, the distillery became a legend in its absence, with remaining casks fetching increasingly extraordinary prices at auction. Independent bottlings from Cadenhead's and others represent the last surviving stock of true Rosebank whisky from its operational years. With stocks near exhaustion, every remaining bottle is genuinely irreplaceable.

Perfect For

  • Collectors of silent and closed distillery expressions — Rosebank is among the most coveted
  • Enthusiasts of the Lowland style seeking a benchmark triple-distilled expression
  • Fans of Cadenhead's independent bottlings of historically significant single malts
  • An extraordinary acquisition for any serious whisky collection
