Distillery Story
Lochside Distillery was located in Montrose, Angus, and was unusual in having produced both single malt Scotch whisky and grain whisky during its working life. The distillery was owned by Macnab Distilleries Ltd and later by Allied Distillers, a subsidiary of Allied Domecq. Production ceased in 1992, and after standing silent for a number of years, the distillery was eventually demolished in 2004–2005. The site has since been redeveloped for housing.
As a result, Lochside bottlings now represent a finite piece of Scotch whisky history, making them especially appealing to collectors and drinkers with an interest in lost distilleries.
