Distillery Story
Littlemill Distillery was located in Bowling, West Dunbartonshire, on the border of the Lowlands and Highlands, although its whisky was generally classified as Lowland. The exact date whisky production began at Littlemill is uncertain, but the distillery traced its origins back to 1772 and long claimed to be the oldest distillery in Scotland. Its early history is tied to the Auchentorlie Estate, with references to the site dating back to the 1750s.
Over time, Littlemill became one of the more historically significant names in Scotch whisky, but the distillery was eventually lost and later demolished. As a result, official and independent bottlings from Littlemill have become increasingly desirable among collectors and drinkers interested in closed distillery Scotch whisky.
