Tasting Notes

Nose: An intoxicating bouquet of rich sherry, dark berries, raisins, and orange peel. Layers of velvety dark cacao, caramelised dates, and a whisper of rare oud wood unfold slowly — extraordinary complexity from nearly six decades in the cask.

Palate: Commanding and full-bodied. Plush dark fruits, black cherry, and Christmas spice lead, followed by bittersweet dark chocolate, dried figs, and a silky sherry richness that only time in the finest Spanish casks can deliver.

Finish: Profound and enduring. Lingering notes of orange zest, toasted oak, and dark chocolate carry long after the last sip — a finish that befits one of the rarest Scotch whiskies ever bottled.

The Story

Distilled in 1968 and laid down in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, this expression spent 56 uninterrupted years maturing in the Highlands before being bottled at a natural cask strength of 44.9% ABV. Released to mark GlenDronach's bicentenary — 200 years of mastery in sherry cask maturation — just 200 bottles exist in the world. It is the oldest whisky the distillery has ever released.

This is not simply a bottle of whisky. It is a piece of liquid history, distilled the year Neil Armstrong walked on the moon and bottled for those who understand that time is the rarest ingredient of all.
