Lindores Abbey Distillery is our focus in our first behind the barrel entry of 2025, we are hosting a special burns night whisky tasting in partnership with them on the 25th of January.

Lindores Abbey its self is located in the lowlands of Scotland, in Newburgh, Fife. The Abbey dates back to 1191, and has played host to many visiting monarchs. The Abbey has history of whisky production dating to 1494 is owed to the Tironensian Monks.

It has a long fascinating history of archeology and history, well worth a explore, in more depth then we could ever capture here.

The modern distillery was founded in 2017 just next door to the Abbey, It opened with 3 stills, with a plan to produce 150,000 litres of sprit a year, Original plans were to age all whisky to minimum of 5 years.

The owner Drew Mckenzie Smith grandfather has owned to site of farm the distillery sits now since 2013, And Drew holds the title of "Custodian of Lindores" as they are considered guardians of the Abbey. The distillery has set up a preservation society to preserve the abbey for future generations.

Lindores use barely grown in Fife, since mid 2019 its has been grown on fields adjacent to the abbey with aim to use locally grown Lindores barley in the future. The first single malt released by Lindores was in 2021, the Lindores Single Malt Scotch Whisky MCDXCIV.

Since then they have expanded a few different bottlings which we hope to taste some of at our tasting evening
