We thought we would give you a deeper dive into some of bottles that you will be tasting and a little refresher on Lochlea. We wrote a article back in May of history of Lochlea, From Field to Flask: The Artistry of Lochlea but we will summerise it here as well.
Lochlea farm converted in 2018 to a distillery and launched their inaugural whisky in January 2022, With the first release and have since gone on in their young age to Develop the our barley, A limited series around the 4 farming seasons , a cask stength and as of 2024 launched the first age statement whisky of 5 Year old of their growing portfolio.
Lochlea is based in heart of Ayrshire in Scotland and are a independent family owned farm which at current time does 80-90% of its production on site. They grow and harvest their own barley and have access on site to a water source meaning that ingredients have full traceability to source they use in making their single malt whisky.

Lochlea Our Barley
The Our Barley is the Lochlea's core and flagship expression matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry and STR casks encapsulates the distinctive flavours of Lochlea. Tasting Notes consist of on the nose pear syrup, warm cut grass and marmalade. On the palate Golden syrup, pepper, macadamia nuts and cream soda with a finish that is long and has lasting orange beeswax notes.
Lochlea Harvest Edition Third Crop
This Lochlea is slight tweak from the second crop version removing the former STR maturation with a sherry maturation creating a new unique twist on the Harvest editions. Tasting Note for the Third Crop are Bright red grapes, fresh strawberry jam and clotted cream. On the palate sweeter notes of baked apple pie and white chocolate appear, finishing with a beautiful balance of savoury cracked black pepper.
