From the rarest casks, where time and sherry-seasoned European oak quietly shape character, comes a single malt of deep, natural beauty: an intense raisin sweetness, rich, elusive and patiently discovered, layered with depth, warmth and a velvety finish that lingers long beyond the final sip. The dark, luminous ruby mahogany colour is entirely natural.

Each annual Rare Cask batch is created from a small fraction of the thousands of casks reviewed each year at the Estate, identified and selected by the Whisky Mastery Team. Around eighty percent of the flavour comes from the sherry-seasoned European oak, seasoned with the finest sherry wines from Jerez de la Frontera.

Key Features

Distillery: The Macallan, Easter Elchies, Speyside, Scotland

Series: Rare Cask, 2026 Release

Edition: Easter Elchies sleeve, distillery exclusive

Cask: Predominantly sherry-seasoned European oak casks

ABV: 43%

Volume: 70cl

Colour: Ruby mahogany, entirely natural

Tasting Notes

Nose: Soft notes of rich raisin, joined by a gentle lift of fresh apple, lemon and orange

Palate: Intense sweet raisin dominates, as vanilla and dark chocolate unfold with a touch of light lemon zest

Finish: Enduring and velvet, settling into a prolonged, satisfying smoothness

About The Macallan Rare Cask

Introduced in 2014 as part of the 1824 Master Series, Rare Cask has set a resolutely high standard for more than a decade as The Macallan's annual celebration of its most exceptional casks.
