Woven from 16 Single Malt Whiskies
Origionaly refered to as a Vatted Malt or Pure Malt now classed as a Blended Malt (a blend of single malts from different distilleries)
The peculiar name comes from a time when farmers hid their home made whisky from nosey excise officers in barrels marked "Sheep Dip"
Sheep dip has been specially crafted by Richard paterson. Scotlands only third generation Master Blender. Richard has selected sixteen single malts from the four traditional malt whisky regions, aged between 8 and 21 years and married them in fresh american Oak barrels to produce this exceptional whisky.
Sheep Dip Blended Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Note:
Colour: Rich, golden copper highlights.
Nose: Delicate and refined. Soft sensual floral notes arise in perfect harmony supported by an attractive array of complex fruit flavours. Melon, pear and orange with a hint of almonds conclude this profusion of charming nuances.
Taste: Finesse and elegance gives way to a majestic assertion of pure malty flavours drawn from the four distilling regions of Scotland. Each area forges and makes its own inimitable contribution to this outstanding pure malt - the main accent being expressed from the Highlands and Speyside Valleys.
However a subtle hint of Islay can be detected on the after taste as it slowly ebbs into a classic, pleasing finish.
Described in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2006 as “A big, sweet, chunky, gawky, grain-lashed but hugely enjoyable blend."
Gold award - International Wine & Spirit Competition 2004, 2005.
"This is seriously good stuff" the Whisky Magazine
